Entering the new millennium,
Deltamarin had seen a
staggering growth in business,
becoming the largest
ship design company in
Europe. The company had
evolved from a Finnish consultancy into an
international design and consulting office that
could cover the entire development of the
product.
Deltamarin had to make the decision
whether to continue with subcontractors
or increase its own capacity. In the end, the
company chose both options – in 2000, in
addition to Deltamarin Group’s own capacity
of 330 people, the company employed about
60 subcontractors.
Originally, Deltamarin grew specifically
by using subcontractors as much as possible.
“Our project management and coordination
systems had already been proven and we
fortunately had experienced people taking
care of as many as 120-130 people working
for us as subcontractors,” said Kanerva in an
interview by the Fairplay Solutions magazine
in 2000.
