fuel consumption. This is something I’m really
eager to see.”
“This was a very demanding project,
which was unique in the world: it’s very
complex, and we have many energy-saving
and recovery systems such as LNG cold
recovery to cool down different departments,
and freezer and cold rooms. The cold display
counter in the cafeteria and buffet is cooled
down by coldness recovered from the LNG,
making it green cooling. We also take waste
energy from the engines to the organic
rankine cycle, and heat from the exhaust to
the steam turbines, so we have huge potential
for generating green electricity on board. On
the ro-pax side, we have made great efforts to
make the vessels very efficient with different
kinds of technology. Of course, it’ll take some
time to make the final adjustments. All this
saving won’t come from day one, so the crew
will have to work to optimise it. But it will be a
fantastic project.”
