Scope of Work for the Shipowner

The conversion involved increasing the vessel's main dimensions (length, breadth, and depth), installing new drilling equipment such as the drill floor, derrick, and pipe handling systems, as well as updating outfitting, accommodation, machinery, and electrical systems. The work was carried out for Aker Rauma Offshore and included:

  • On-site: Design coordination, construction oversight, dynamic positioning calculations (thruster configuration studies, model tests & calculations, procurement of additional thrusters), various theoretical calculations (weight calculation, seakeeping analysis, outdocking studies, shadow diagrams for hydrophones), steel design and strength assessments per DNV rules and FEM (moonpool corners, engine room pillars), interface drawings (deck equipment, drilling equipment, emergency generator room), and drill piping systems (both basic and detailed design)
  • At Deltamarin: Weight calculations, stability assessments, inclining test, and ERN calculations

Project Features

  • Considered one of the most technically demanding marine projects of its kind and the largest of its type in Europe
  • The outcome is a state-of-the-art drill ship built to the latest industry standards, achieving significant time savings
