Deltamarin’s series of energy-efficient cargo ships reached yet another milestone as Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) has entered into a contract to build a new self-unloading ship based on Deltamarin’s design. This new highly sustainable, safe and efficient ship is being built at the Chengxi Shipyard in China.
With the decarbonization of maritime industry, comes new legislation. Shipping decarbonisation is a combination of smart operations, efficient ship design and low-carbon fuels. Deltamarin’s new design tools enable to gain control of all of these pieces in the shipping decarbonisation puzzle.
With the growing importance of environmental foresight, Deltamarin, in partnership with Cargill and BAR Technologies, is seeking to be a leader for the maritime industry in climate- and environment-related issues. WindWings is a wind propulsion system designed for significant wind energy harvesting, and it can reduce a vessel’s CO2 emissions by up to 30%.
Deltamarin’s new LNG-powered Kielmax container vessel of the C.Delta series, C.Delta2100, represents the best-in-class design in terms of cargo capacity, flexibility and fuel economy. It provides a flexible platform for a whole series of designs while also being “future-proof”, considering possibilities to use alternative fuels to reduce carbon footprint or even zero-emission power production.
Deltamarin supported Flexens in its Power2AX project by conducting a ferry comparison study with the aim of investigating the substitution of diesel-fuelled ferries with hydrogen ferries in the Åland archipelago. Flexen’s unique Power2AX project focuses on demonstrating a 100% renewable energy system in the Åland Islands.
Deltamarin collaborates with Cargill and BAR Technologies to design cargo ships using BAR Technologies’ WindWings, a new technology offering a solution to improve vessel efficiency, independent of the fuel or type of engine used.
Stena Line’s ro-pax ferry Stena Estrid has been chosen as the winner of the Shippax Ferry Concept Award for 2020. Deltamarin congratulates Stena on the acknowledgement and is proud to have been involved in the project and also to have our design and work honoured in this way.
Deltamarin has signed a contract with China Merchants Jinling shipyard (Weihai), previously known as AVIC Weihai, for the approval and detail design of Finnlines Superstar 5,100lm ro-pax vessel project.
