ABS Classification Society has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to Deltamarin and GTT for the dual-fuel Newcastlemax bulk carrier design. The companies have been cooperating on the development of the LNG-fuelled energy-efficient vessel which will meet current and future environmental targets by introducing a well-studied, pre-approved and genuinely clean-fuel technology ship.

A year of changes and development

Deltamarin’s bulker design for HBC wins Energy Efficiency Award at Nor-Shipping
Deltamarin congratulates Hamburg Bulk Carriers (HBC) for winning the Energy Efficiency Award at this year’s Nor-Shipping. Their winning ship, the Venture Joy bulk carrier, is based on Deltamarin’s B.Delta43 design. It is the sixth vessel in the series of 43,500 dwt geared handysize bulk carriers delivered to HBC from the Chinese Qingshan Shipyard.
Deltamarin’s bulk carrier design shortlisted for Nor-Shipping Awards
Deltamarin is proud to have had its designs shortlisted for Nor-Shipping awards at three consecutive exhibitions. This year Hamburg Bulk Carriers’ Venture Joy is shortlisted as one of the nominees for the Energy Efficiency Award. The vessel is based on Deltamarin’s B.Delta43 design.
Shell to join Project Forward studying LNG-fuelled bulk carriers
Project Forward, the joint development project based on Deltamarin’s B.Delta design, is in discussions with oil major Shell about potential LNG supply options and requirements for globally-trading bulk carriers, tankers and container vessels.
Construction of ESL Shipping’s LNG-fuelled bulk carriers switched to Jinling Shipyard
The construction of the Deltamarin-designed bulk carriers for the Finnish ship owner ESL Shipping has been assigned to Sinotrans & CSC main yard, Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, China. The two extremely energy efficient B.Delta26LNG vessels will be the first LNG-fuelled large bulk carriers in the world.
Project Forward develops dry bulk carrier of the future
Project Forward, a joint development project to equip the dry bulk carriers of the future with LNG propulsion, has selected Wärtsilä to join the project with its 31DF dual-fuel engine. The project is led by Athens-based bulk carrier owner Arista Shipping, and other participants are Deltamarin, ABS and GTT.
Deltamarin and Brevik Technology launch a revolutionary multigas carrier design
Deltamarin Ltd and Brevik Technology AS, a VARD affiliate, have joined forces by developing a novel multigas carrier design, which is expected to change the nature of the gas carrying industry. The concept combines in unprecedented way the successful design of Deltamarin’s B.Delta and the new-generation patented cylindrical gas tanks by Brevik Technology.
