Deltamarin’s B.Delta bulk carrier design has once again boosted its reputation with Hamburg Bulk Carriers’ Venture Joy being shortlisted as one of the nominees for the Nor-Shipping Energy Efficiency Award. The awards will be announced at the opening conference of the exhibition on May 30, 2017.

Venture Joy is the sixth vessel of the series of 43,500 dwt geared handysize bulk carriers based on Deltamarin’s B.Delta43 design and delivered to HBC from the Chinese Qingshan Shipyard. The vessel’s main dimensions are overall length 189.99 m, beam 30.0 m and maximum draft 10.7 m. With five cargo holds, it has a cargo carrying capacity of 54,000 m3.

The judges of the Nor-Shipping Award jury presented the following arguments for shortlisting the Venture Joy: “The vessel’s optimised hull form and propulsion system have allowed it to meet EEDI Phase III requirements nine years ahead of the introduction. This represents a 30 percent CO2 emissions reduction over current rules and around 40 percent on the average for the current fleet of this ‘workhorse’ ship type.”

Deltamarin is proud to have had its designs shortlisted for Nor-Shipping awards at three consecutive exhibitions. In 2015, the New Horizon class 8,500 CEU PCTC design for Höegh Autoliners was shortlisted for the Energy Efficiency Award, and in 2013, the B.Delta design was shortlisted for the Next Generation Ship Award.
