people around. It’s about teamwork and equal 17
treatment of people and stakeholders.”
These sentiments are echoed by François
Cadiou, Chairman of the French
shipbroking company Barry Rogliano Salles,
formerly a board member of Deltamarin:
“At Deltamarin, it’s people who make the
difference. That’s one of the company’s
mottos: making the difference. It’s probably a
Finnish thing, but people listen to others and
accept ideas that are out-of-the-box. I’ve also
witnessed great respect for others.
Deltamarin, like BRS, has been trying
to conquer the world, and you grow a lot
by exchanging ideas, meeting others and
listening to others. That’s important. They’ve
also developed systems and everything you
need to develop to have a sound engineering
company. But beyond that, I believe that
Deltamarin has always been handled and
managed by very good people.”
Indeed, Deltamarin has always expressed
the desire to grow by exchanging ideas with
a wide array of people from all around the
world and different trades. Ever since its
inception, the company has been making an
effort to gain more competence and, once
gained, to hold onto it.
1994 saw a glimmer of hope in the
shipbuilding market. Deltamarin was working
on more projects than it had been in a long
time. The newbuilding side, in particular,
had been slow for the previous two years.
Regardless of this, Deltamarin had made the
decision not to lay off employees so as not to
